The Challenge
‘The Irish’ is a longstanding icon in Toowoomba, known as one of the friendliest pubs in town to meet and have a drink and a bite with friends.

The problem was that, while the locals knew to go there for a pint, they didn’t always know that the Irish offers so much more than meets the eye.
The team wanted to increase awareness and enquiries for their functions business. Parties, weddings and corporate events are all catered for in the pub’s various function spaces and it was time to get the word out. What’s more, The Irish is home to a thriving gig scene, bringing a great range of bands to their stage, but needed a way to spread the word easily to music lovers in the city.

But, more than that, our combination of in-house specialists, including website designers, graphic designers and digital marketing gurus, could provide a ‘one stop shop’ for our favourite pub. We all put our collective heads together to come up with a website that did everything the Irish Club wanted, and more.
The Solution
Function Spaces
To start with, we put the Irish Club’s functions spaces front and centre on their new website. With prominent ‘Book Now’ buttons on the homepage, a dedicated ‘Function’ section which showcases each room and links to a separate page for each function space, it is now very easy for website visitors to book the perfect room for their event. We designed fun icons that summarise each room’s features, meaning less reading for the busy party planner and, what’s more, we put a link to the pub’s delicious function menu on each page. Venue, food, drinks….tick! Only thing left to do is send the invites!
Gig Guide
The Irish Club already had their social media marketing mastered with thousands of thirsty music lovers following their pages. What they needed was a way to link their Facebook posts directly to gig information to get the word out about individual events. So, we designed a special gig module to sit within their website. Now each gig has its own listing making it very shareable on social media and Google search engine friendly. Plus, we integrated the Irish Club’s Facebook page into a What’s On page so web visitors can easily see what’s on and when as well as connecting to the event through their own Facebook page.

The Outcome
The functions business at The Irish has snowballed
So much so that they had to employ a full-time events coordinator to manage it! That’s a lot of parties! Sharing gig info has become so much easier and more successful for the team and, as a welcome bonus, because we integrated the mouthwatering menu into the website instead of linking to a pdf as had been done in the past, the menu page has become one of the top visited pages on the website. Now, should we have a yummy pizza or the Beef and Guinness pie for lunch? Meet you at The Irish!
